Soho Loft has been transformed into a private shelter tailored for young families to contrast with the bustling streets of New York below. Christina Cole Studio worked with DXA Studio to bring new life to the existing home, creating Spaces that reflect the owners unique character through a carefully curated design perspective.

Located in the middle of the hustle and bustle of urban life, Soho Loft integrates its owners with the surrounding urban environment, while also becoming a peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle.

These clients understand the simplicity, says Christina Cole. I can understand why some people find the space layered and comfortable, but to truly appreciate the sophistication of the work, there is a need for white space. In the space set aside, foundation elements are introduced to inject a sense of richness and warmth into the house, making it firmly rooted.

Located in a historic loft, it was important to retain the original interior scale and proportion, however, introducing a calmer, more linear design concept. While remaining elegant and restrained, balancing enough natural light with a warm atmosphere was the focus to harmonize the new elements with the existing structure.

We dont use a lot of decorations, says Christina, who represents the studio. We dont use light or bright colors, and we dont use jewel tones. We used all natural materials, which gave us all the colors and textures we needed. By reimagining the existing fireplace as a centerpiece with a more minimalist aesthetic, it sets the tone for furniture, artwork, lighting and decorations that enhance the charm of the open-plan living and dining area. These design concepts are used throughout the residence.

Traditional elements are reinterpreted with a contemporary touch and are reflected in bespoke furniture, oak paneling and selected light fixtures, all of which pay homage to the heritage of this space. The exquisite craftsmanship is displayed from the entrance, impresses guests and encourages personal expression.

In Soho Loft, the fusion of essential materials brings a simplicity in which clean line movements evoke a touch of warmth. Christina Cole Studio and DXA Studio have crafted a house with keen insight and aspiration, artfully combining elements of the past and present to create a space that is both timeless and vibrant.

With three small children in mind, it was crucial that the entire apartment was designed with a focus on openness and connectivity. The design also prioritizes shared living Spaces and an accessible layout, requiring a flexible layout. In addition, there are also Spaces to rest in order to provide private moments.
