What would it be like to move a gallery into your home? Sarah Zames and Colin Stief, founders of New York-based interior design studio General Assembly, curated and eventually landed an apartment-style gallery in Brooklyn called The Residence, where you can experience shopping from home.

Located in a new building developed by Tankhouse and designed by SO-IL in Fort Greene, this two-storey gallery features approximately 2,000 square feet of light and exquisite interiors that complement the architectural craftsmanship, exposed concrete ceilings and natural oak flooring. It also demonstrates General Assemblys commitment to refinement and material quality.

In the light-filled living room, a C-Sofa from E.V.am is arranged, inspired by the traditional lightweight rollaway bed and borrowed and adopted cotton woven cushions to provide soft support. Next to The sofa is The Assembly Occasional table made of cherry wood by General Assembly, where simple lines and thoughtful details inject function and beauty into the space.

Centrally located, General Assembly has customised the organic form of a lacquered coffee table for this open living space. The Cooperage Chair, a barrel-shaped chair from Fort Standard, contrasts the material and tone in the soft sunlight, creating a unique pattern through the alternations of the two-color structure.

series of unique and interconnected Spaces, including the living room, kitchen/dining area, study, office, master bedroom and childrens bedroom, feature General Assemblys recently launched Ressource lime paint collection, as well as carpets based on Armadillo Earth colors.

The six colors of the Ressource collection are drawn from natural materials found at the General Assembly site, a reference to the environment in which they work. Each color seems to tell its own story, reflecting its unique charm from the site.

The Clois Daybed is a monumental, large day bed in hardwood construction with classic wood details, including wedge-carved wooden tenons and a display of bed leg sections. Next to the Strata wall shelving is a handcrafted Helle floor lamp with impressive proportions of hand-blown glass and hand-crafted wood structure.

The Residence definitely feels like a home and doesnt want too much decoration - we want it to be more like a gallery, so you can have a space station somewhere and look at the works that are displayed in the space

这张大象扶手椅的设计灵感来自印度常见的庆典活动中大象身上的座椅，宽大、深邃、舒适。框架是实心的再生柚木，低矮的座椅由棉绳手工编织而成，再现传统的

Charpai图案。

The design of this elephant armchair is inspired by the seat on the elephant in the common celebration activities in India, which is wide, deep and comfortable. The frame is solid reclaimed teak, and the low seats are hand-woven from cotton rope, reproducing traditional Charpai patterns.

Light is the focus of the design, flowing gently through wide Windows with sage green frames that illuminate the interior while capturing views of the leafy tree canopy and downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan skylines, connecting the house to its surroundings and filling the site with a natural atmosphere.

In the bedroom, natural, earthy tones form a match between the overall tones, and the complementary colors of the Armadillo carpet and linen curtains make the room an effective color block concept. A sculptural Fresnel Lamp by Pat Kim, handmade from solid cherry wood and alabaster, is placed at the bedside and shines brightly.

Designed by Danish brand RYE, the Hem bed, crafted from solid red oak, is the visual center of the bedroom. It follows the architectural stacking principle, allowing the furniture to incorporate layers of natural diversity while maintaining aesthetics. When the grain runs through every part of the oak, a unique sequence will appear, as if nature is active in front of you.

The Residence is a perfect example of the integration of architecture, interior and form. The apartment-style gallery space embodies the design philosophy of General Assembly Studio, which values craftsmanship, honest use of materials and heritage of art. They believe that these will improve or enhance the quality of life of the occupants over time.
