Located in Hawthorne East, Melbourne (Wurundjeri heritage land), Temple House is a house with a historical memory and a modern design language. Originally designed by Czech architect Robert Rosh and completed in 1969, the house reflects the influence of the post-war immigrant community of architects. After experiencing the catastrophe, they have a deep desire for home and are committed to creating a family-centered living space.

James Reid of J Kidman Architecture has carefully recreated the Temple House, preserving the spirit of the original building while bringing it to life. The flat roof and beige brick walls continue the geometric precision of the Bauhaus. A large area of floor-to-ceiling Windows introduces natural light and gently pours it into the open living space, emphasizing the interaction and sharing between people.

In interior design, Studio Tali Roth reinterprets the material temperature of Mid-century modernism with a restorative approach. The design revives the original architectural language and cleverly incorporates modern elements. Decorated with Gucci floral motifs, selected artwork, dark stone, gilded details, and heirloom historical memories, the space is interwoven with unique contemporary design pieces, creating a delicate balance between vintage and modern.
