On a land in Mexico interwoven with sunlight and tree shadows, Ludwig Godefroy Architecture presents an architectural practice about negative space - Casa Soskil. This building does not define space based on the physical entity. It subverts the design logic of traditional residences, starting from the blank and making the garden the starting point of the building. It has a breathable blank space, which becomes the spirit of the residence and also serves as a natural barrier to protect the internal living space.

Casa Soskil让居住者在虚空与实景中，建立与自然对话。设计初期特别关注“视线的掌控”，为了避免周围邻居的潜在打扰，设计师Ludwig Godefroy巧妙地围绕场地上原有树木，布置了漂浮的几何体块。这些结构不仅塑造了宽敞的开口，让花园自由生长，阻隔视野，为居住者营造一方宁静而隐秘的天地。

Casa Soskil enables the occupants to establish a dialogue with nature in the void and the real scene. In the early stage of the design, special attention was paid to control of the line of sight. To avoid potential disturbances from the surrounding neighbors, the designer Ludwig Godefroy ingeniously arranged floating geometric blocks around the original trees on the site. These structures not only create spacious openings, allowing the garden to grow freely and blocking the view, but also create a peaceful and secluded world for the occupants.

项目中，花园并非房屋之外的附加空间，而是定义房屋本身的结构力量。空白也非剩余，反而是空间的主角。建筑师以花园的“虚空”来组织整体布局，建筑本身则成为了顺应自然的陪衬。每一个空间，都围绕着花园展开，仿佛栖息于树梢之上，感受自然的呼吸。

In the project, the garden is not an additional space outside the house, but rather the structural force that defines the house itself. Blank space is not residue; instead, it is the protagonist of space. The architect organized the overall layout with the void of the garden, and the building itself became an accompaniment that conformed to nature. Each space unfolds around the garden, as if perched on the treetops, feeling the breath of nature.

场地本身的两极特性也使项目具有天然的优势：前院阳光充沛，后院被茂密树荫覆盖，形成明暗对比。并被Ludwig Godefroy捕捉和进行升华，顺势而为的在住宅前院打造了一个沐浴在阳光中的社交区域，与泳池相依，而在后方，后院则延展出一个幽静的阴影世界，树影斑驳之间，成为静谧之所。

The bipolar characteristics of the site itself also give the project a natural advantage: the front yard is bathed in abundant sunlight, while the back yard is covered by thick shade, creating a contrast of light and shade. And it was captured and elevated by Ludwig Godefroy. In line with the trend, a social area bathed in sunlight was created in the front yard of the residence, adjacent to the swimming pool. At the back, the backyard extends into a quiet world of shadows. Among the dappled tree shadows, it becomes a place of tranquility.

这种自然生成的对比，延续到室内，住宅内的功能空间经过解构、重组，前院与后院的两个社交中心以一条贯穿绿意的花园步道相连，犹如流动的绿色脉络，将整个住宅串联起来。

This naturally formed contrast extends into the interior. The functional Spaces within the residence have been deconstructed and reorganized. The two social centers in the front and back yards are connected by a garden walkway that runs through greenery, like flowing green veins that link the entire residence together.

露台、日光浴区和泳池，构成了活跃和充满能量的生活场景，也形成了Casa Soskil的“光之极点”；而“影之极点”则位于书房、午睡小屋和户外火炉区，是心灵放松的私密领地。这种以自然光影划分空间的方式，赋予了建筑截然不同却又彼此呼应的特质。

The terrace, sunbathing area and swimming pool constitute an active and energetic living scene, and also form the Pole of Light of Casa Soskil. The Shadow Pole is located in the study, nap room and outdoor fireplace area, serving as a private haven for the mind to relax. This way of dividing space with natural light and shadow endows the buildings with distinct yet mutually responsive qualities.

通过顺应场地的自然属性，进而颠覆了传统住宅内封闭的布局。整个一层，从入口到后墙，连同花园与树木，都被彻底打通，形成一个自由呼吸的开放式生活场域。卧室则如同一座座树屋，被轻轻镶嵌到被保留的大树之间，构建人与自然亲密关系，也有着童话般的诗意。

By conforming to the natural attributes of the site, the traditional closed layout within residences has been overturned. The entire first floor, from the entrance to the back wall, along with the garden and trees, has been thoroughly opened up, creating an open living space that allows for free breathing. The bedrooms are like tree houses, gently inlaid among the preserved big trees, creating an intimate relationship between humans and nature, and also having a fairy-tale-like poetic quality.

Casa Soskil用一种极具实验性的方式，重新定义居住的边界与日常的体验。在此，室内外之间的界限彻底消失，花园成为真正意义上的“客厅”，人们在其中穿行、停留、生活，与自然融为一体。

Casa Soskil redefines the boundaries of living and the daily experience in an extremely experimental way. Here, the boundary between the interior and exterior completely disappears. The garden becomes a true living room, where people walk, stay and live, blending in with nature.

Casa Soskil完成了一场诗意的转变——不是一座房子附带着一座花园，而是一座花园孕育出一座房子。建筑成为配角，自然与居住者交织，打造一种深度沉浸于自然的理想生活。这正是Ludwig Godefroy Architect所追求的建筑哲学：在自由生长的自然中，找到人与场地间最本真的关系。

Casa Soskil has accomplished a poetic transformation - not a house with a garden attached, but a garden giving birth to a house. Architecture plays a supporting role, with nature and its occupants interwoven, creating an ideal life deeply immersed in nature. This is precisely the architectural philosophy pursued by Ludwig Godefroy Architect: to find the most genuine relationship between people and the site in the freely growing nature.
