This rural cottage, named Cotswolds Cottage, was meticulously designed by an English family and the design team Laura Berkeley-Hawkes and Gracy Berkeley-Hawkes. It is located in the typical Cotswolds countryside landscape of the UK. The original building was a functional annex constructed in the 1990s and had no significant architectural historical value. The two designers transformed it on the edge of their main houses garden, turning it into an independent rural residence that combines practicality and aesthetic appeal, and presenting it as part of their own design studios works.

室内设计以质朴而自然的材质为主线，运用了木材、大理石、亚麻、羊毛和黄麻等素材，以呼应当地的环境与生活节奏。为了强调内部空间与周围景致的联系，设计中大量采用了再生橡木地板及深色橡木柜面，并保留了材料本身的原始状态与纹理，使整体氛围既沉静又富有质感。在空间配置上，设计师精心规划每一寸区域，实现紧凑布局与舒适体验的平衡。

The interior design is centered around simple and natural materials, using woods, marbles, linen, wool and jute as the main elements to echo the local environment and lifestyle. To emphasize the connection between the interior space and the surrounding scenery, the design extensively employs recycled oak flooring and dark oak countertop, while preserving the original state and texture of the materials, creating an overall atmosphere that is both serene and textured. In terms of space configuration, the designer meticulously planned each square inch of the area to achieve a balance between compact layout and comfortable experience.

在功能布局上，该小屋在一层设置了沿墙延展的木质厨房、开放式餐区与休息区，并在楼梯下巧妙安排了实用的储物空间与工具间。餐厅区域以一张十九世纪风格的木桌与古董瑞士椅配合艺术作品，引入画面感与色彩焦点。生活区中的金属原木炉架则兼具实用与雕塑感，成为空间的视觉中心之一。卧室与浴室位于上层，浴缸被置于屋内，以满足乡村生活中理想的舒适体验。

In terms of functional layout, this cabin has a wooden kitchen extending along the walls on the first floor, an open dining area and a lounge area. Practical storage space and a tool room have been ingeniously arranged beneath the staircase. The dining area is complemented by a 19th-century wooden table and antique Swiss chairs, along with artworks, creating a sense of visual impact and color focus. The metal-wooden shelves in the living area have both practicality and sculptural appeal, serving as one of the visual centers of the space. The bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the upper floor, with the bathtub placed inside the house to provide the ideal comfort experience in rural life.

整体而言，这座科茨沃尔德小屋虽占地不大，但在材料选择、细部处理与空间组织上都体现出设计师对乡村生活氛围的深刻理解。它既是对乡村美学与实用性的探索，也呈现出现代住宅设计在有限空间中实现多重价值的可能性。

Overall, although this Cotswolds cottage is not large in size, it demonstrates the designers profound understanding of the rural living atmosphere in terms of material selection, detailed handling, and space organization. It is not only an exploration of rural aesthetics and practicality, but also presents the possibility of achieving multiple values in modern residential design within a limited space.
