We catch up with Azusa Murakami and 
Alexander Groves of Studio Swine, who reveal all about their outdoor bench 
designs for London's St James’s Market. Pictured clockwise from top right:

‘Something that struck us about the local shop interiors was all the mahogany joinery with brass handles and the parquet floors,’ says Murakami. ‘We used this warm, dark palette for the benches to create a sense of place for this new development.’ Pictured: detail of the ‘Shirt’ bench

The research also resulted in the colourful ‘St James’s Market’ chairs and stools (pictured, and which will be used for events), inspired 
by the looms used to weave silk for shirts
