Glen Iris New Vernacular JGM Residence Merging contemporary neo-classical forms with the pre-existing style of the dwelling, ‘New Vernacular’ is a modern extension to a 1930’s bungalow. Sensitivity to the existing façade hierarchy is addressed at multiple scales, from the reinterpretation of prevailing columnar elements, to the secondary horizontal window elements. The original gable roof form is evident in the elemental details, providing visual consistency between old and new. Sophisticated minimalism coupled with 1930’s influences unify to create a timeless home abundant in air, light and warmth. Close
