A house becomes a home when it feels like your sanctuary. Using considered design, I’m passionate about creating spaces for my clients which not only look better, but make them live better, and most importantly, feel better.Creating exceptional spaces is about getting the small details right and being uncompromising on both form and function. When I work with people who are open to new ideas, amazing things can take shape.People say you are what you wear. But to me, your clothes are how you want to be perceived; it’s your home — your most personal and intimate space — which is the true reflection of who you actually are. Your home says so much about where youve travelled and how you like to live.
DESIGN DESCRIPTION
The Clients wanted to create a modern family home reminiscent of a New York style penthouse apartment for a new build on a landmark site in Surry Hills. The brief was to create a luxurious and sophisticated space for themselves and their 2 children in their 20’s. It needed to be a functional sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Surry Hills.
The flow of the apartment was of upmost importance with a parents retreat required with grand proportions and the teenage retreat on the other side with a lush media room and guest accommodations. The idea being that everyone could meet in the middle where the jade green marble Kitchen that needed to be “like no other” takes center stage. The challenge of the space was carefully delineating the kitchen, two living areas, feature bar and dining area within a very large open planned space. Key pieces of furniture and lighting helped to achieve this.
ABOUT DESIGNER
Alexandra Brown Interiors Since the establishment of my design consulting company in 2001, contemporary design has always been the source of inspiration for Alexandra. I am very pleased in creating spaces for inspiration.
Her own style philosophy can best be described as modern eclecticism, and I like the sensibility of design in the middle of the last century.
Beautiful, luxurious, practical design and the use of modern colors can add too much charm to your house, but more importantly, it changes the way you evaluate the space every day.
Each project inspires her to create a space that transforms the clients personal needs into a modern and refined space. From working with architects and/or clients, purchasing furniture (be it custom, designer or something in between) to specifying fixtures and finishes, I was inspired to create a pure residential pleasure s home.
Alexandra loves the creative process and discovers beautiful things. When she enters a completed project, she will never stop inspiring her.
