Elizabeth Bay Apartment by Handelsmann   Khaw is home to a cohesive, Belgian-inspired ambience imbued with a cosy, silken lustre.

Interior design duo Handelsmann   Khaw have garnered a reputation for realising residential spaces cocooned in calm and quietude. It’s where the outside world becomes ever so slightly more diminutive in the best possible way. Elizabeth Bay Apartment harnesses this same essence.

Overlooking Sydney Harbour, Elizabeth Bay Apartment is a residence sheathed in a suffused golden light and dreamy ambience. Balancing contemporary liveability with domestic nostalgia, the home is a culmination of textures, greenery, bespoke furniture, joyously unpredictable styling and tranquil schematics.

Belgian charm has informed a subdued palette of soft edges and velvety surfaces; each alteration placing the integrity of the user at the core.

The interior’s color scheme was influenced by the colors of the original entrance ceiling, which were dark hues brought out by marble, gold, wood, and stone. To retain a generally minimalist appearance, the studio interpreted these hues as more subdued color references.

Each color serves as both the foundation for the interior on each floor and as sophisticated wayfinding. Two distinct ideas that together form a whole bring the structure together.

The first draws influence from its surroundings; Under den Linden’s expansive foyer features vegetation and columns that replicate the rhythm of the trees lining the historic avenue, giving visitors a sense of being outdoors in an urban setting.

与周围环境的城市建筑的联系通过混凝土地板和工业外观但触感良好的材料得到了强调。设计的灵感来自于先前存在的建筑特征，包括人字形镶木地板、复杂的天花板和墙板以及弯曲的拱门。

The connections to the city architecture of the surrounding environments are highlighted by the concrete floors and industrial-looking yet tactile materials. The design was inspired by pre-existing architectural features including the herringbone parquet flooring, the intricate ceiling and wall paneling, and the curved archways.

Hairpin House

Hairpin House是位于马萨诸塞州波士顿的一个极简住宅，由Studio J. Jih与Figure合作设计。在一个封闭的19世纪的住宅内部，Hairpin House利用发夹式转弯的山路的起伏作为导航和空间的工具。

Hairpin House is a minimal residence located in Boston, Massachusetts, designed by Studio J. Jih in collaboration with Figure. In a confined 19th-century home interior, Hairpin House uses the undulations of a hairpin-turning mountain road as a navigational and spatial tool.

这座排屋位于一个曾经的工人阶级社区，有一个杠铃式的计划，内部的三分之一完全用于流通，导致所有房间都是同样大小的状态。

The rowhouse, located in a once working-class neighborhood, had a barbell plan with the inner third totally devoted to circulation, resulting in a state in which all rooms were of the same size.

The refurbishment made it possible for programs to expand and contract to the necessary sizes, which led to programming volumes abusing the stair to the point of failure.

The stair was untied in response, and it was draped across the new programmatic topography. The stair is reenvisioned as a contingent character that responds dynamically to its surroundings.

The unruly element continuously rearranges itself inside the forty-foot atrium it carves out as it cascades obliquely through the four-story rowhouse, creating a sculptural figure and dizzying space within a very confined location.
