In the Palm Desert of California, a medieval architectural gem has undergone a transformation. The "Wave House", designed by architect Walter S. White for artist Miles C. Bates in 1955, with its signature wavy roof responding to the natural landscape of the SAN Jacinto Mountains, is an example of organic modernism. Nowadays, this landmark residence, driven by the collaboration between Design Within Reach (DWR) and the vacation rental platform Boutique, has become the first "experiential" boutique rental house, further blurring the boundary between the living space and the curatorial space.

此次合作不仅是对 Wave House 建筑遗产的致敬，更是一次关于设计与生活融合方式的实验。Stayner Architects 对该住宅的修复保留了其历史特征，使其既是国家史迹名录上的遗产，也是一处活跃的当代表达平台。内部陈设由 DWR 精心策划，结合 Paul Smith 与 Maharam 合作推出的限量家具系列，延续中世纪现代主义的美学逻辑，同时注入色彩、图案与当代织物的活力语言。

This collaboration is not only a tribute to the architectural heritage of Wave House, but also an experiment on the way of integrating design and life. The restoration of the residence by Stayner Architects has preserved its historical features, making it both a heritage on the National Register of Historic Places and an active platform for contemporary expression. The interior furnishings were meticulously planned by DWR and combined with the limited furniture collection jointly launched by Paul Smith and Maharam, continuing the aesthetic logic of medieval modernism while infusing the dynamic language of colors, patterns and contemporary fabrics.

Wave House 不再只是一个被观赏的对象，而是一个可居住、可感知、可对话的场域。家具的配置、纺织的层叠、色彩的过渡，共同构建出一个与其建筑语言高度一致的沉浸式环境。DWR 在此打破传统零售空间的体验方式，邀请住客以居住者的身份与设计作品发生互动，从而重新理解比例、材质与氛围等设计维度。与此同时，Boutique 以其在全球建筑地标租赁领域的经验，将设计导向的旅行体验提升至一个新的层次，使空间不仅满足居住的需求，更激发创造力与精神连接。

Wave House is no longer just an object to be appreciated, but a field that can be lived in, perceived and conversed with. The arrangement of furniture, the layering of textiles, and the transition of colors jointly create an immersive environment that is highly consistent with its architectural language. DWR breaks the traditional experience mode of retail Spaces here, inviting residents to interact with design works as occupants, thereby re-understanding design dimensions such as proportion, materials and atmosphere. Meanwhile, with its experience in the global architectural landmark rental field, Boutique has elevated the design-oriented travel experience to a new level, making the space not only meet the living needs but also inspire creativity and spiritual connection.
