CM G1 House is a residence in Los Angeles built in 1949, which was jointly renovated by the young designer Ben Willett and his wife, the cookbook author Molly Baz. The original structure appeared dull and old due to the low ceiling and grey tones. Willett adheres to modernist concepts, removing superfluous walls and oppressive ceilings, introducing large areas of floor-to-ceiling glass, allowing natural light to fully penetrate the interior, and ingeniously integrating the courtyard landscape with the interior space.

In terms of spatial aesthetics, CM G1 House integrates the medieval modern style with the contemporary lifestyle. The open layout integrates the kitchen, living room and dining area into one, enhancing the transparency and interactivity of the space. Through precise volume processing and material combination, the architectural rhythm flows naturally, and daily activities can be carried out smoothly within it.

威利特偏好自然主义与在地材料的运用。室内广泛采用软木地板，延续了加州中世纪住宅的温润质感；墙面与定制家具则使用大量花旗松，其纹理在光影中呈现出丰富层次。整体材料选择契合“功能即美”的现代主义原则。

Willett prefers naturalism and the use of local materials. Cork flooring is widely used indoors, continuing the warm and mellow texture of medieval California residences. The walls and custom furniture are made of a large amount of Douglas fir, whose texture presents rich layers in the play of light and shadow. The overall material selection conforms to the modernist principle that function is beauty.

此次住宅改造也成为威利特家具设计生涯的起点。他的首个家具系列以“体量—几何—重复”为构成逻辑，呼应建筑语言，兼顾使用功能与美学表达。从雕塑感餐具柜到线条简洁的咖啡桌与深色沙发，每件家具都自然融入空间，构成整体不可分割的一部分。

This residential renovation also marked the starting point of Wilits furniture design career. His first furniture collection takes volume - geometry - repetition as its composition logic, echoing architectural language and taking into account both functional use and aesthetic expression. From the sculptural sideboard to the simple-lined coffee table and the dark sofa, each piece of furniture naturally blends into the space, forming an inseparable part of the whole.

The functional zoning is clear and not stiff. The living room is surrounded by custom-made furniture to create a warm atmosphere, and is complemented by artworks and green plants to create a cultural level. The kitchen features black stone countertops and wooden cabinets, creating a material contrast that enhances the visual focus and modernity. The bedroom pursues a balance between soft light and privacy to create a peaceful resting space.

The courtyard continues the interior design language, expanding the living experience to the natural environment through plant arrangement and outdoor furniture, and building a rich sensory life dimension.
