This mountain residence in Gstaad, Switzerland, was a collaborative effort between the architectural firm Fend - Partner and the interior design studio Hruby Studio. They completely rebuilt and reconfigured a 1960s house. The project was carried out under strict local building regulations, with the core objective not being to replicate the Alpine style, but to re-establish a more contemporary and restrained relationship between the space and the natural landscape while respecting the regional context.

At the beginning of the design, Antje Hruby, the founder of Hruby Studio, and the architectural team reoriented the building on the site. Through precise volume layout, window placement and interior axis planning, they brought light deep into the interior and consciously framed the panoramic view of the valley. The interior language continues the simple and unadorned quality of the traditional wooden houses outside, with a basic material system composed of stone, wood and fabric, emphasizing the untreated touch and the naturally changing surface state over time, making the traces of use part of the space.

The spatial organization centers around an open kitchen and dining area, responding to the real lifestyle of the family. The double-sided glass wine cabinet maintains the continuity of sight and landscape while achieving functional and acoustic separation, demonstrating meticulous consideration for daily and social scenarios. Transitional spaces such as elevators and stairs are also regarded as important interior nodes. The customized elevator interiors and continuous curves of the metal railings give the flowing space a sense of ceremony and warmth.

After the overall interior architecture was completed, Herubie introduced selected antique and contemporary artworks, such as paintings by Philippe Decrauzat, sofas by Sedilia London, and lamps by Martinelli Luce, allowing the space to retain emotion and individuality within an orderly structure, creating a mountain residence expression that lies between tradition and modernity, with a distinct authorial consciousness.
