Located in the exquisite seaside resort of Knokke, Belgium, DH Apartment was designed by renowned designer Vincent Van Duysen to blend architecture, nature and family life in an understated and thoughtful way. This apartment on the fourth floor is not only a summer retreat, but also a delicate and rhythmic living experience, balancing openness and privacy, silence and warmth in the interplay of light and shadow along the coast.

DH Apartment 的核心设计策略，是一种对“隐藏与揭示”的巧妙运用。公寓内的大部分功能性元素被定制设计的体块所包裹，这些体量承担着储物和空间组织的作用，同时也在视觉上塑造出一种流动而和谐的建筑语言。厨房用具与日常杂物被巧妙隐藏，确保了室内的开阔与整洁，使居住者的目光得以毫无障碍地投向北海的壮丽景色。

The core design strategy of DH Apartment is an ingenious use of hiding and revealing. Most of the functional elements within the apartments are wrapped in custom-designed volumes that serve as storage and spatial organization, while visually creating a fluid and harmonious architectural language. Kitchen utensils and daily necessities are cleverly hidden to ensure the openness and cleanliness of the interior, so that the eyes of the residents can be easily directed to the magnificent views of the North Sea.

栗色木饰面 赋予空间温暖的触感，与公寓充足的自然光线形成对比，在吸收和反射之间达到微妙的平衡。空间中没有任何过度的装饰，每一处细节都经过深思熟虑，使得光影成为真正的主角，赋予公寓生动且富有层次的变化。

The maroon wood finish gives the space a warm touch that contrasts with the apartments ample natural light, striking a delicate balance between absorption and reflection. There is no excessive decoration in the space, and every detail has been carefully thought out, allowing light and shadow to become the real protagonist, giving the apartment a vivid and layered change.

材料的选择直接取材于周围的沿海环境，但却避免了过于直白的海洋元素。公寓采用 浅色砂岩地板，其天然纹理犹如海滩的微妙触感，在脚下形成一种隐形的叙述。墙面则以 纹理石膏 覆盖，能够在全天不同的光照条件下展现细腻变化，就如同海洋的千变万化。这样的设计语言，使 DH Apartment 超越了传统的沿海住宅风格，而步入更具当代气息的 “静奢”美学（Quiet Luxury）。

The choice of materials draws directly from the surrounding coastal environment, but avoids overly explicit Marine elements. The apartment features a light-coloured sandstone floor whose natural texture resembles the subtle touch of the beach, creating an invisible narrative underfoot. The walls are covered in textured plaster, which can show subtle changes in different lighting conditions throughout the day, like the ever-changing nature of the ocean. This design language allows DH Apartment to move beyond the traditional coastal residential style and into a more contemporary Quiet Luxury aesthetic.

This aesthetic echoes that of mid-century Scandinavian summer houses: the purity of natural materials and the free flow of space are far superior to the complexity of decoration. At the same time, Vincent Van Duysens precise approach ensures that the apartment achieves the perfect balance between minimalism and functionality, giving it a historical temperature without losing a sense of contemporary precision.

The layout of the space has been carefully planned to accommodate the diverse rhythms of family vacation life. The social Spaces and master bedrooms face the sea to maximise views of the North Sea, while the childrens bedrooms are located at the back of the apartment, each with an en suite bathroom, creating a quiet and private retreat. This layout acknowledges the dual need for togetherness and solitude in family life, allowing occupants to both share quality time in an open space and enjoy a moment of peace in a separate space.

DH Apartment 的独特之处在于其 克制而精准的设计语言。它并未采用传统海滨住宅的符号化表达，而是通过 空间布局、低调且高级的材质选择与光线运用，营造了一种低调且极具质感的居住氛围，构建出一个沉稳而优雅的空间。这种克制赋予公寓更持久的美学价值，使其能够超越时间，成为真正的静谧奢华之作。在这一设计策略下，公寓不仅成为了一个宁静的海滨度假场所，更是一种 关于当代居住哲学的思考——在克制中寻求深度，在极简中展现真正的奢华。

What makes DH Apartment unique is its restrained yet precise design language. It does not use the symbolic expression of the traditional seaside residence, but through the spatial layout, low-key and advanced material selection and light use, to create a low-key and highly textured living atmosphere, to build a calm and elegant space. This restraint gives the apartment a more lasting aesthetic value, allowing it to transcend time and become a true work of quiet luxury. With this design strategy, the apartment becomes not only a peaceful seaside resort, but also a meditation on the contemporary philosophy of living - seeking depth in restraint and displaying true luxury in minimalism.
