Raffles Sentosa Hotel is quietly located on a hill on Sentosa Island, Singapore, overlooking the Singapore Strait and surrounded by more than 100,000 square meters of lush tropical vegetation. On the occasion of the 138th anniversary of the brands establishment, this all-villa-style resort hotel has opened a new chapter for Raffles in this garden City and has become another important milestone following the first store on Beach Road in 1887.

项目的设计由国际知名的跨学科事务所Yabu Pushelberg操刀，由创始人乔治·雅布（George Yabu）与格伦·普谢尔伯格（Glenn Pushelberg）亲自主理。在构思初期，两位设计师特地回访Raffles新加坡本馆，试图从这位“优雅老祖母”的建筑中汲取情感线索。普谢尔伯格（Pushelberg）打趣道：“如果说Raffles新加坡是一位端庄的祖母，那圣淘沙酒店更像是她感性、自由的孙女。”他们并不试图复刻殖民风格，而是赋予它一份更当代、更流动的生活气息。

The design of the project was handled by the internationally renowned interdisciplinary firm Yabu Pushelberg, and was personally overseen by the founders, George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. In the early stage of conception, the two designers specially returned to Raffles Singapore, attempting to draw emotional clues from the architecture of this elegant old grandmother. Pushelberg quipped, If Raffles Singapore is a dignified grandmother, then the St. Tao Sha Hotel is more like her sentimental and free granddaughter. They do not attempt to replicate the colonial style, but rather endow it with a more contemporary and fluid flavor of life.

酒店的整体布局仿佛顺应山势自然展开，设计上打造出一种如同“隐秘村庄”的氛围。从蜿蜒起伏的车道驶入大堂，旅程仿佛缓慢切换频道，将人从城市节奏中悄然抽离。传统的奢华大堂被有意识地替换为更低调的设计语言：舒适的家具、通透的落地玻璃，将迎宾空间打造成一个静谧的过渡地带。

The overall layout of the hotel seems to unfold naturally in accordance with the mountain terrain, and the design creates an atmosphere like a hidden village. Entering the lobby from the winding and undulating driveway, the journey seems to slowly switch channels, quietly pulling people away from the rhythm of the city. The traditional luxurious lobby has been consciously replaced with a more low-key design language: comfortable furniture and transparent floor-to-ceiling glass have transformed the welcoming space into a quiet transitional zone.

当宾客乘坐小车穿行于绿意环绕的小径，前往别墅时，仿佛置身一个小型城镇。房间内部与自然环境几乎无缝连接——卧室、客厅与私人泳池之间仅由落地玻璃门隔开，建筑轮廓轻柔地融于园林之中。一幅由本地艺术家安德烈·魏（André Wee）绘制的大型植物壁画将自然带入室内，灵感来源正是卢梭（Rousseau）的梦境画作《梦》（The Dream），构筑出一个带有奇幻色彩的热带叙事。

When guests ride in the car through the green-surrounded path and head for the villa, it feels as if they are in a small town. The interior of the room is almost seamlessly connected to the natural environment - the bedroom, living room and private swimming pool are separated only by floor-to-ceiling glass doors, and the architectural outline gently blends into the garden. A large plant mural painted by local artist Andre Wee brings nature indoors. The inspiration comes precisely from Rousseaus Dream painting The Dream, constructing a tropical narrative with a touch of fantasy.

“我们想创造一个带有幻想色彩的热带故事。”雅布（Yabu）如是说。细节之中，隐藏着空间的温柔低语——床头格栅后微微泛出的灯光、浴室中宛若起居室般的家居布置……一切都在刻意降低“设计感”，而更注重氛围的渗透与生活的体感。家具的形式虽简练，却不失风格。“我们想让它有性格，但不是那种喧宾夺主的存在。”普谢尔伯格补充道，“重要的是，在一个空间里，所有元素之间要找到恰当的平衡。”

We want to create a tropical story with a touch of fantasy. Yabu said so. Amidst the details lies the gentle murmur of space - the faintly shining light behind the headboard grille, the home arrangement in the bathroom that resembles a living room... Everything is deliberately reducing the design sense, and paying more attention to the infiltration of atmosphere and the physical sensation of life. The form of the furniture is simple and concise, yet it does not lose its style. We want it to have character, but not the kind that steals the show. Pscherberg added, It is important to find the right balance among all the elements in a space.
