“Bennington Heights has been our home in Canada for almost thirty years,” Glenn says with warmth and pride. The house is situated at the top of a tranquil forest canyon in Toronto, with large floor-to-ceiling windows at the back, offering an expansive view of the lush greenery outside. No matter where you are in the house, you feel as though youre being gently embraced by nature.

透过窗户，远处的森林景观令人心旷神怡，而偶尔的溪水潺潺声则给空间增添了一份灵动。但这些声音并不显眼，溪水在茂密的丛林中悄无声息地流淌，似乎在无声地讲述着自然的故事。

这座房子的设计，出自国际知名建筑师与设计师组合——George Yabu与Glenn Pushelberg之手。Glenn微笑着说：“站在房子外面看，它低调内敛，但一进入屋内，便能感受到完全不同的氛围。”这座私宅不仅展示了他们对空间功能与美学的独特理解，也蕴含着他们对生活的深刻思考。

Through the windows, the distant forest landscape is breathtaking, and occasionally, the gentle sound of a flowing stream adds a sense of tranquility to the space. Yet, these sounds are subtle, as the stream flows quietly through the thick foliage, almost imperceptible, silently telling the story of nature.The design of this house is the work of the internationally renowned architect and designer duo George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. Glenn smiles and says, “From the outside, the house appears modest and reserved, but once inside, you experience an entirely different atmosphere.” This private residence not only showcases their unique understanding of spatial function and aesthetics but also embodies their deep reflections on life.

从日常到艺术的空间转化

Transforming Daily Life into an Artistic Space

疫情期间，Glenn与George的生活与工作都发生了变化。曾经，他们经常从家中的一个空间匆匆经过，丝毫没有在意它的存在，直到有一天，Yabu在视频会议中拿起素描本，开始重新构思这一层的布局。最终，他们决定将这一空间改造成一个多功能的社交区，增设第二厨房，给家庭生活带来更多的便利与互动。

During the pandemic, Glenn and Georges lifestyle and work changed. They often hurried through a particular space in the house without giving it much thought, until one day, Yabu picked up his sketchbook during a video call and began reimagining the layout of that floor. In the end, they decided to transform the space into a multifunctional social area, adding a second kitchen to enhance convenience and interaction in their daily lives.

“我想，我丈夫疯了。”Pushelberg笑着回忆起第一次看到新设计草图时的惊讶。而如今，这一空间已变成了他们的社交中心，饭后，家人朋友们便会移步至这里，享受更为舒适、温暖的环境。“这里有树木环绕，仿佛是与大自然融为一体，带给我们不同的居住体验。”

“I think my husband is crazy,” Pushelberg recalls with a laugh, remembering her surprise when she first saw the new design sketch. Now, this space has become their social hub. After dinner, family and friends move upstairs to enjoy a more comfortable, warmer environment. “It’s surrounded by trees, as if we’ve merged with nature, giving us a completely different living experience.”

The Fusion of Art and Life
