材料记忆与当代空间的可持续的诗学

这座建筑最引人注目的特质在于它诗意地模糊了历史与当下的界限。设计师并未将场地清理为空白画布，而是将原有地基和砖石烟囱转化为空间叙事的核心元素——来访者必须穿过旧宅的幽静的遗迹才能抵达新居，这种刻意设计的仪式感创造了一种记忆的义务。设计超越了单纯的保护，通过石砌体块与保存烟囱的材质对话，构建出跨越时代的视觉锚点，使新建筑成为连接两种时间维度的物质媒介。碎片化的三体量布局并非偶然，它巧妙重构了魁北克乡村建筑群特有的有机生长肌理，那些如同在景观中自然生长的谷仓集群，在这里获得了当代转译。

The buildings most striking quality lies in its poetic blurring of the lines between history and the present. Rather than leaving the site as a blank canvas, the architects transformed the original foundation and masonry chimney into core elements of a spatial narrative. Visitors must traverse the ghostly remains of the old house to reach the new residence, a deliberate ritual that creates a sense of obligation to remember. The design transcends mere preservation. Through a material dialogue between the stone masonry and the preserved chimney, it establishes a visual anchor that transcends time, making the new building a physical medium connecting two temporal dimensions. The fragmented, three-volume layout is no accident; it cleverly reconstructs the organic growth pattern characteristic of rural Quebec architecture, giving the clusters of barns, seemingly grown naturally within the landscape, a contemporary interpretation.

The use of materials continues this interwoven narrative of time and space. The expansive Monteregia-style cedar roof both pays homage to the topography and provides practical shelter in the extreme cold. The stone floor, extending from the exterior to the interior, not only provides thermal mass but also dissolves the boundary between nature and man-made. The reclaimed timber beams, cantilevered into the ceiling structure, are particularly captivating—the marks of tools, weathered textures, and the patina of time make these components bearers of memory. As they continue to breathe life within the modern space, the craftsmanship of pre-industrial times becomes a material part of contemporary life. This respect for the materials history elevates sustainability beyond the mere accumulation of technical parameters to a cultural legacy that transcends generations, demonstrating an ecological ethic that goes beyond mere conservation.
