The DKR residence is situated in the Vistula Valley west of Kraków, on the edge of the forested southern region of Poland. The building site is a vast, uniquely shaped sloping plot with dual inclines, which dictated the homes distinctive placement while offering exceptional opportunities for meticulous landscaping of the surrounding terrain.
Material selection centers on natural, unadorned textures. The exterior facade is clad in black wood treated with the charred cedar technique, while the interior continues this theme with dark-stained wood, complemented by light oak flooring and furniture to create a calm, warm layering. Walls and ceilings feature natural clay plaster, lending the overall atmosphere a softer, purer quality.

The lakeside residence comprises four smaller volumes to soften visual impact and control overall scale. Aside from the garage, three volumes function as flexible standalone cottages, allowing family members to live separately or together as needed. The space designed for the matriarch includes a kitchenette and living area, bedroom, bathroom, and storage space overlooking Baw Beese Lake, enabling her to live independently without needing other parts of the house. Simultaneously, the area designated for her daughter and her family of four features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, independent HVAC systems, and storage space, enabling flexible and secure living for a multigenerational household.
